TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The first Blazing Paddles tournament held Saturday, May 15, by the Lane County Table Tennis Club was a "blazing success," according to tournament organizers. A total of 55 people played in doubles and/or singles, ranging from high school/college age to 80+.

Participants at the Regional Sports Center in Springfield included club members and others, some from out of town like Seal Rock and Corvallis. There was a good turnout of spectators as well, with admission free and a canned food contribution for Food for Lane County encouraged.

The 18 trophy winners in various categories included:

Women's Doubles under 1100:

1. 1st Celeste Ulrich and Susan Goodyear
2. 2nd Devika Gates and Kathee Fuller

Women's Doubles over 1100

* This division was won by default as only one team registered in the category.

• 1st Celeste Baine and Leslie Maguire

Doubles under 1500:

1. 1st Marvin Clark and John Goetsch
2. 2nd Paul Mumma and Dick Browning

Doubles 1500-2000:

1. 1st Kwang-Jo Kim and Tom Rozinski
2. 2nd Scot Wile and Dylan Wile

Singles under 800:

1. 1st Bo Bloesinger
2. 2nd Kevin Murphy

Singles 800-1100:

1. 1st Harvey Wang
2. 2nd Bob Arnold

Singles 1100-1400:

1. 1st Alberto Redondo
2. 2nd Scot Wile

The tournament organizing committee included: Tom Mitchell, tournament director; Harry Ehrmantraut, associate director; Dave Combs, registration and finances; and Mike Pitman, publicity. Bo Bloesinger took photographs, and BJ shot videos.
